Auf dem Weg zum "Mole National Park" in der Nähe von Kintampo gibt es tief im afrikanischen Busch zwei Doerfer, Boabeng und Fiema, die Zwei Affenstämme, ca. 160 Geoffroy's Pied Colobus- und etwa 350 Campell's Mona- Affen beschuetzen. Ein Beispiel für afrikanische Conservation. Der traditionelle Glaube in beiden Orten verbietet seit über 150 Jahren das Jagen der Affen. 1975 wurde dies in einer modernen schriftichen Vereinbarung zwischen den beiden Dörfern zu Papier gebracht. Beide Affenstämme leben von Insekten, Pflanzen, Blumen und Früchten, bedienen sich aber auch (wenn es keiner sieht) in den Küchen der Dorfbewohner. Während die Campells Affen ein braunes Fell haben, sind die Geoffroy's Affen schwarz und haben einen schneeweissen "Kragen". Sie sind völlig zahm und leben friedlich mit den Einwohnern zusammen.

The Boabeng Monkey Sanctuary is situated on the way to the Mole National Park and is Ghana's most famous example of African conservation. It is home to over 160 Geoffroys Pied Colobus and 350 Campbell's Mona Monkeys. For over 150 years the people of the area between Boabeng and Fiema have considered the monkeys sacred and traditional beliefs prohibit harm coming to the monkeys. The monkeys are forest monkeys. As they live so close to humans they can be seen many a time serving themselves from local kitchens. The Campbell's Monkeys are brown in colors and eat leaves, stems, flowers, fruits and insects. The Geoffroy's Pied Monkeys are black and white and live off leaves, stems and mineralized earth. Here man and animal live in harmony together which has become a rare sight.
