Dr. Kwame Nkrumah hat den Volta Staudamm
gebaut der das grösste Kraftwerk West Afrika's beherbergt und Ghana und ihre Nachbarländer
Burkina Faso, Cote D'Ivoire und Togo mit Elektrizität versorgt.
An Sonntagen fährt die " MV Dodi Princess" zur Insel Dodi und
zurück. An Bord befindet sich eine Musik-Kapelle, die für Unterhaltung
sorgt. Auf dem Deck befindet sich ein umfangreiches Buffet für
hungrige Gäste und an der Bord-Bar fliesst alles was Getränk heisst.
Beginnend in Yeji, einer
Hafenstadt im oberen Teil des Volta Sees, mit 8600 qkm der grösste Stausee der Welt, fährt die "MV. Yapei Queen" 253
km den Volta See hinunter bis nach Akosombo. Auf der "MV. Yapei Queen" wird alles transportiert, Menschen, Tiere,
Autos, Nahrungsmittel, etc. Auf
dem Weg nach Akosombo legt das
Schiff in der Nähe von Dörfern an den Stränden an,
um neue Passagiere und Fracht aufzunehmen.

You will take a trip down the Volta Lake
on the Yapei Queen for two days living the Ghanaian way, experiencing Ghana from all aspects. The
Yapei Queen starts from the port in Yeji and
ends at Akosombo.
The ship transports everything
from people to domestic animals to food stuffs. During
these two days, it stops several times to pick passengers and their
wares. The Volta Lake is with 8600 sq.km. the largest man made lake in the world
and it feeds the hydroelectric dam which produces electricity for Ghana and its neighbouring countries.The MS Dodi Princess takes you on a cruise over the lake to the
Dodi Island and back. On board you will be entertained by a live band, a lunch buffet and
of course a spectacular view.
